Summer Sailstice Day Sail- A Global Sailing Holiday
Sail Locally, Celebrate Globally!
Founded in 2001 by John Arndt, Summer Sailstice is the global sailing holiday celebrated on the weekend closest to the summer solstice. The event, created to unite the sailing community in a mutli-faceted, multi-location event, unites nearly 20,000 sailors from all over the globe. Cruisers, racers and recreational sailors hit the water on Summer Sailstice day to celebrate and showcase life under sail. This is a perfect opportunity to sharpen your sail trimming skills and to join other sailing enthusiasts for a day of celebration and fun.
For the Summer Sailstice Day Sail, check-in at 10 am, followed by a captain and crew briefing. We set depart the dock by 10:30 am. Depending on the consensus of the sailors, we can sail towards Redfish Island to anchor, eat and swim or we can spend more time sailing in Galveston Bay with other sailing enthuisists.
We will return to the dock around 4 pm. This is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your sail trimming skills and to socialize with other sailing enthusiasts.
You are welcome to bring a sack lunch and drinks. With the extra hour spent in the sun on this day sail, don't forget your favorite sunscreen and head covering.
